would gabbro make an excellent non-slip material for paved path?
basically, i want to get started on learning a bit of geology...but i'm also interested in landscapes and garden design....so i would like to ease into it by at least learning all the names of all the rocks stones minerals gravels pebbles ...basically anything rock-like that i am likely to come across in a uk garden.
also from my miniscule knowledge of geology...i have at least gathered that the uk has a quite amazing amount of different rock types for the size of the country....and that some amonsgt that wide variety must have been used for use in a garden or for building generally.
i have tried to find a book specifically on the links between rock types/geology and gardening, but havent managed to find one yet.
i can think of the ones below, but there must be many more:
slate, shale, granite, limestone, sandstone, flint, quartz.
