My 3 year old can be a real handful. He's always been this way. He's very forceful and determined. Time out's can go on non stop some days.
At the moment he's loving the word 'no'. If I tell him to do something, that tends to be the answer I get. If I try to give options this also tends to lead to 'no' for both choices. Turning around sometimes works but not always.
By the end of the day, when I'm tired I get so wound up and angry. Then once he's in bed I feel terrible because I think I'm disciplining him more than necessary for something which most kids do at some point. He does also have some learning problems which is I think the cause of a lot of his behaviour. I just see that as his mother, if I tell him to do something he should do it and I don't want to pave the way for him getting his own way.
How do other parents cope with the stress when your toddler is playing up. Is is normal to feel like you're forever handing out punishments? I worry I'm letting him down.
We do go out just about every day and he is in nursery. He's also going to a Speech therapist soon. I wouldn't say that he's angry. Just frustrated but the way that he yells at me sometimes, demanding things is just unacceptable. Oh and he does throw things now too. I suppose I should be happy that he's on track. Even if I do feel like I'm going mad!
