India Commonwealth games 2010?

Paving driveway - pave your drive or parking lot with blocks or gravel.

Hello There,

I couldn't stop myself from expressing my concerns for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The world is watching this event. It's extremely prestigious not only for Indian residents but also for Overseas Citizens of India. India has put a lot of efforts and energy in these games, being the costliest games in the history. I just want to say that I and all my friends here are supporting India and Indian government efforts for these games. We are supporting each and every official who's working there to make this huge event a big success, be it a lowest rank police officer on roads, or a simple worker at airport, or Big Boss of a 5 star hotel. We all friends strongly request rest of the people of India to please forget bad politics, or corruption, or fights etc and work together - all political parties, the media, the people - for just 20 more days. Show the world the meaning of a strong Union. This event is representing India at the world stage. At the end of the day, no one will remember a particular political party but just India and Indians. 'Indians failed to host the games and to keep their promise' or 'Indians are so hard working, they made it a huge success'. Once again, We are with you and supporting everyone involved in the games.

Please don't find excuses as I have seen in other posts that's its a waste of money ... or why are we hosting the Uk games etc. All these questions and concerns should have been raised before agreeing to host these games ... not now when only a few days are left. I think this Gaming event is at the stage where it doesn't need any critical comments but support. Whatever, negative thoughts people have about this event, please keep them to themselves for 20 more days and then raise them to the Government or on internet. Not now, this is not the leg pulling time for those who are still working hard to make it a success but this is the time to support them even it's dis-organized. Hold on your criminal inquires, corruption reports, media critique, and any other negative thoughts. Let the air be filled with enthusiasm, food, fun, and crowd cheering their favorite players, a healthy competition etc. Because that's what these games are about. And once the games are over then jot down the lessons learned and punish those who deserve to be punished. Just my personal thoughts.

under the section "Perkins confident"

Perkins, a multiple Olympic and Commonwealth gold medallist, says the chaos surrounding the last-minute preparations for Games is nothing new.

"We're only talking days now before the Games are due and obviously before the athletes would be travelling over there, but I remember in Barcelona in '92 they were still paving the village when we arrived," he said.

"I remember being in Atlanta and roads were still being laid and venues were still being put together.

"It's not unusual, this sort of seeming disorganisation is almost the norm for large scale events like this.

"As far as I'm aware Sydney's probably the only time that anyone's been well enough organised that they haven't required last-minute preparations."

But Perkins does have concerns about security.
