Can anyone advise on causes of cracks inside and outside the walls of a bungalow? The bungalow was built in '64 but the cracks appeared 3 years ago after having block paving around the house. The surveyor says that it has nothing to do with block paving and there is no movement from the ground using a plumb line all is straight. He thinks that it is due to difference in heat coefficients between the lintel across the wall and the bricks but why now? Repair was carried out by professionals 12 months ago using rods and it seemed to work for 10 months. Cracks have now reappeared after the summer on interior walls at the corners although we had little sun to heat up the walls.
