The Home secretary is proposing police are given more powers to clear areas and establish no-go areas quickly in the event of public protests. They already have all the force and laws needed to do this - why do we need more legislation? - Is Breach of the peace, Theft, intent to comit various crimes not enough to arrest people anymore ?
In addition to water cannon (which we don't have many anymore due to government cutbacks) - new microwave weapons developed in the US could be bought and used against the public. These area denial weapons are military weapons and not designed to be used on the public, as people are literally cooked. It also causes long term cancers. If used against a crowd - the people at the front cannot run away so will be burned, as will any peaceful protest it will enevitably be used on. Imagine the inhumanity of suffrogette style protests where people chain themselves to objects - only to be cruely tortured by these military weapons. Any form of torture is against international law.
This is not the way to go surely ?
